DOE Releases LNG Export Data through May 2017

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released data on U.S. LNG exports and imports for the period January 2017 through May 2017. The data show that, during May, 18 cargoes of domestically produced LNG were shipped from Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, La. Three cargoes were sent to both United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Mexico, two were sent to South Korea, and one to each of Argentina, Brazil, China, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Taiwan. Article: U.S. LNG Deliveries to the U.K. Likely to be Rare

Platts reports that although a shipment U.S. LNG landed at the United Kingdom’s Isle of Grain last week, additional U.S. LNG shipments to the U.K. are likely to be few because profit margins on U.S. LNG are higher in other markets, such as Mexico and East Asia.

Freeport LNG Files Application to Construct Fourth LNG Train

Freeport LNG Development has filed an application with FERC for authorization to construct a fourth liquefaction train (Train 4) at its LNG export terminal under construction at Quintana Island in Brazoria County, Texas. Train 4 would provide an additional nominal 5.1 million tonnes per annum of LNG export capacity.

ConocoPhillips’ Kenai LNG Plant to be Mothballed

The Alaska Journal reports that ConocoPhillips intends to fully shut down its Kenai, Alaska LNG terminal because of depressed global LNG prices and ConocoPhillips’ inability to find a suitable buyer for the plant. According to the article, the last LNG export from the Kenai plant was in the fall of 2015.

Eagle Maxville Files DOE Export Application

Eagle LNG Partners Jacksonville II LLC (Eagle Maxville) has filed an application with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for authorization to export up to 2.8 Bcf/year (0.06 million tonnes) of LNG over a 20-year period to nations with and without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States. Eagle Maxville proposes to export the LNG from its LNG production and storage facility currently under construction at a site in west Jacksonville, Fla. Kogas Signs MOUs for Development of Alaska LNG, Port Arthur Projects

The Alaska Journal of Commerce reports that Alaska Gasline Development Corporation and Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint committee to collaborate on the development of the proposed Alaska LNG project. According to the article, “Kogas is the main LNG buyer in South Korea and the second-largest corporate LNG buyer in the world.” Separately, Kogas signed an MOU with Sempra LNG & Midstream, LLC and Woodside Energy (USA), Inc. regarding the development of the proposed Port Arthur LNG liquefaction project in Port Arthur, Texas....

DOE Authorizes Additional LNG Exports from Proposed Lake Charles Terminal

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued two orders authorizing Lake Charles Exports, LLC and Lake Charles LNG Export Company to export an additional 121 Bcf/year of LNG from the proposed Lake Charles LNG Liquefaction Project in Lake Charles, La. to nations with and without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States.
