FERC Approves Pre-Filing Procedures for Commonwealth LNG Project

FERC has approved Commonwealth LNG, LLC’s request to initiate the pre-filing environmental review process for Commonwealth LNG’s proposed liquefaction and LNG export facility in Cameron Parish, La. along the South Prong of Grand Bayou. EIA: U.S. Expected to be Net Gas Exporter in 2017

The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) latest Short-Term Energy Outlook projects that the United States will export more natural gas than it imports in 2017.  The United States has been a net gas exporter for three of the past four months and this is expected to continue for the rest of 2017 and throughout 2018 due to growing U.S. natural gas exports to Mexico, declining pipeline imports from Canada, and increasing exports of LNG.  EIA also expects exports of LNG to increase as five new liquefaction projects currently under construction—Cove Point, Cameron, Elba Island, Freeport,...

Fourchon LNG Requests FERC to Initiate Pre-Filing Procedures

Fourchon LNG LLC has filed a letter requesting that FERC initiate its pre-filing environmental review procedures for Fourchon LNG’s proposed LNG export project, to be located in Lafourche Parish, La.  Fourchon LNG proposes to site, construct, own, and operate a LNG liquefaction facility with a peak capacity of approximately five (5.0) million metric tons of LNG per annum and a ship berth on Belle Pass, Port Fourchon.  Fourchon LNG states that after receiving the necessary authorizations, it intends to commence construction in phases, with the first phase commencing in the third quarter of...

Cameron LNG Train 1 Start Likely Delayed Until 2019

The San Diego Tribune reports that LNG production from Train 1 of Sempra Energy’s Cameron LNG export terminal under construction in Cameron Parish, La. is likely to be pushed back to 2019, with Trains 2 and 3 following in close order.  No explanation was given for the delay.  Train 1 was scheduled to go online in 2018.

Dominion Cove Point LNG Export Terminal Expected In-Service 4th Quarter 2017

In a July 2017 update, Dominion Energy Cove Point (DECP) states that its liquefaction and LNG export terminal project at Lusby, Md. “is 92% complete and is on track for an in-service date in the fourth quarter [of] 2017.” DECP states that “[a]ll of the major equipment has been set in place and now the focus is on commissioning activities.”

Petronas Cancels B.C. LNG Terminal Project

Malaysian state oil and gas company Petronas released a statement that it and its partners “have decided not to proceed with the Pacific NorthWest LNG project at Port Edward in British Columbia [B.C.], Canada.”   According to the statement, the decision “was made after a careful and total review of the project amid changes in market conditions.”  Read more in the Reuters article.  ...

FERC Releases Update on Annova LNG Brownsville Project

FERC has released an update on its review of the Annova LNG Brownsville export project proposed to be located on the southern bank of the Brownsville Ship Channel at mile marker 8.2, in Cameron County, Texas. The project would include six liquefaction trains with the ability to produce about 6 million tons per year of LNG, an interconnected intrastate pipeline, and marine export facilities.
