Jordan Cove Energy Project (“Jordan Cove”), wholly-owned by Canadian corporation Veresen Inc., has filed an application with FERC for authorization to construct and operate a natural gas liquefaction and LNG export terminal located on the bay side of the North Spit of Coos Bay, Ore. The terminal is designed to receive a maximum of 1,200,000 Dth/day of natural gas and produce a maximum of 7.8 million metric tons per annum (“mtpa”) of LNG for export to Asian markets, particularly Japan. DOE Approves Eagle Maxville LNG Exports

Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued an order authorizing Eagle LNG Partners Jacksonville II LLC (Eagle Maxville) to export over 20 years up to 2.8 Bcf/year (0.01 Bcf/day) of LNG to nations with and without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States. Eagle Maxville is authorized to export domestically produced LNG in ISO containers loaded at its Maxville Facility in Jacksonville, Fla. DOE Releases LNG Export Data through July 2017

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released data on U.S. LNG imports and exports for the period February 2016 through July 2017. The top five recipients of exported LNG from the United States, and the percentages of the total amount of LNG exported for the period, are Mexico (23.3%), South Korea (8.8%), China (8.8%), Chile (8.7%) and Japan (7.2%).

Netherlands to Receive Second Sabine Pass LNG Cargo

Reuters reports that a second cargo of LNG loading at Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG terminal in Cameron Parish, La. is expected to arrive in the Netherlands in early October. The first shipment of LNG to the Netherlands from the Sabine Pass terminal arrived on June 8 of this year.

CNOOC Unit Cancels Proposed B.C. LNG Terminal

The Globe and Mail reports that Nexen Energy, partially owned by Chinese energy company CNOOC Ltd., has cancelled its proposed Aurora LNG export terminal project on Digby Island, British Columbia (B.C.) due to low LNG prices in Asian markets. The other owners of Aurora LNG are Japanese companies Inpex Corp., JGC Corp. and JOGMEC. Alaska LNG Project Concludes Capacity Solicitation

The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) announced that it has concluded the capacity solicitation process for foundation customer capacity on the proposed Alaska LNG Project, which is comprised of, among other components, an 800-mile pipeline and an LNG export terminal. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has promulgated a proposed rule that will provide for expedited approval of small-scale exports of natural gas, including LNG, from U.S. export facilities.
