Rio Grande LNG EPC Contract Now Expected Third Quarter 2019

Platts reports that NextDecade has decided not to move forward with an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with McDermott International for NextDecade’s proposed Rio Grande LNG project on the Brownsville, Texas Ship Channel.  An EPC contract is now expected to be reached in the third quarter of 2019 after competitive bidding process and prior to a final investment decision on the project. FERC and PHMSA Sign MOU to Coordinate LNG Reviews

FERC and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which establishes a framework for coordination between FERC and PHMSA to process LNG facility applications in a timely and expeditious manner. According to the press release, PHMSA is responsible for standards governing the location and design of LNG facilities, and FERC is responsible for determining whether proposed FERC-jurisdictional LNG facilities are in the public interest. PHMSA to Take Lead Role in Reviewing LNG Project Applications’ Siting Issues

S&P Global Platts reports that the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration (PHMSA) will be taking the lead role in evaluating proposed LNG project applications’ compliance with siting requirements in PHMSA regulations related to LNG facilities. PHMSA reportedly sent letters to the developers of proposed LNG projects with applications pending at FERC notifying them of the new process on siting reviews. Republican Senators Question FERC on Pending LNG Export Applications

Pieridae Energy to Acquire Access to Alberta Gas Reserves

Pieridae Energy Limited (Pieridae), sponsor of the proposed Goldboro LNG project in Nova Scotia, and Ikkuma Resources Corp. Corpus Christi Liquefaction Files Construction Status Report

Corpus Christi Liquefaction has filed a report with FERC covering construction through July 2018 at its Corpus Christi, Texas, liquefaction and LNG export terminal. The report states that Stage 1 (Trains 1 and 2) engineering and procurement are now 100% complete; subcontract and direct hire construction work are 78.2% and 80.7% complete, respectively; and overall project completion for Stage 1 is 91.2%.
