Elba Island LNG Exports to Begin Late April 2019

Reuters reports that, because of construction delays, Kinder Morgan has pushed back to late April 2019 the start-up date of the first LNG production train at its Elba Island export terminal near Savannah, Ga. Completion of all ten liquefaction trains proposed for the terminal may not occur until January 2020.

FERC Releases Final EIS for Texas LNG Brownsville Project

FERC has released the final environmental impact statement (EIS) for Texas LNG Brownsville, LLC’s proposed Texas LNG liquefaction and export terminal on the Brownsville Ship Channel in Cameron County, Texas. The EIS concludes that “approval of the Texas LNG Project would result in adverse environmental impacts. DOE Releases January 2019 U.S. LNG Export Data

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released data on exports of U.S.-produced LNG through January 2019. The data show the top five countries of destination, representing 54.9% of total U.S. LNG exports, as Japan (17.5 Bcf), South Korea (17.0 Bcf), Mexico (14.3 Bcf), Italy (10.5 Bcf), and the United Kingdom (10.4 Bcf). The data also show that 37 vessel-borne cargoes were shipped during January 2019 from the Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana (28), the Dominion Cove Point terminal in Maryland (6), and the Corpus Christi terminal in Texas (3). Cheniere Partners Announces Substantial Completion of Sabine Pass Train 5

Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P., has announced that Substantial Completion of Train 5 of the Sabine Pass liquefaction and export terminal in Cameron Parish, La., was achieved on March 7, 2019. According to the press release, commissioning has been completed and Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals, Inc., has turned over care, custody, and control of Train 5 to Cheniere Partners. Alaska LNG Sponsor Signs Collaboration Agreement with BP and ExxonMobil

The Alaska Gasline Development Corporation, sponsor of the Alaska LNG project, announced that it has “signed an agreement with BP and ExxonMobil to collaborate on ways to advance the Alaska LNG project by working together to identify ways to improve the project’s competitiveness, and progress the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission authorization to construct the project.”

DOE Grants Non-FTA Export Authorization to Venture Global Calcasieu Pass

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued an order authorizing Venture Global Calcasieu Pass, LLC (VGCP) to export 620 Bcf/yr (1.7 Bcf/d) of LNG over a 20-year period to nations without a Free Trade Agreement (non-FTA) with the United States. Today, Cheniere Energy, Inc. (“Cheniere”) and Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals, Inc.
