Construction at Golden Pass LNG Terminal to Start May 13

Golden Pass Products has filed a letter with FERC stating that construction is expected to begin May 13, 2019 at the proposed Golden Pass LNG export terminal in Jefferson County, Texas.  Qatar Petroleum owns 70 percent of the Golden Pass LNG project and ExxonMobil owns 30 percent.

China to Increase Tariff on U.S. LNG from 10% to 25%

Reuters reports that in retaliation for a U.S. increase in tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese goods to 25% from 10%, China is set to increase the tariff on U.S. LNG from 10% to 25% starting June 1. FERC Authorizes Pre-Filing Review Process for Venture Global Delta LNG

FERC has issued a letter authorizing the pre-filing environmental review process for Venture Global Delta LNG, LLC and Venture Global Delta Express, LLC’s (collectively referred to as Delta LNG). Delta LNG plans to construct a liquefaction facility with a capacity of 20.0 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG and a peak capacity of up to 24.0 MTPA and an LNG export terminal facility in Plaquemines Parish, La., along with an interconnected pipeline, the Delta Express Pipeline Project....

EPC Contract Bidding Process Started for Lake Charles LNG Project

The Houston Chronicle reports that Energy Transfer and Shell have opened the bidding process for a construction contract to build the proposed Lake Charles LNG export terminal in Louisiana. “The two companies issued an invitation to tender for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to convert Energy Transfer’s already existing liquefied natural gas import terminal in Lake Charles into a large-scale export terminal.” A final investment decision for the project “will depend on the bidding process, overall project competitiveness and global LNG market...

FERC has released the final environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Plaquemines LNG export terminal and interconnected Gator Express Pipeline Project, proposed by Venture Global Plaquemines LNG, LLC and Venture Global Gator Express, LLC (together, Venture Global). Venture Global requests authorization to construct and operate a new LNG export terminal along the west bank of the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish, La., along with an interconnected pipeline. Oregon DEQ Denies Water Permit for Jordan Cove Project

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has denied, “at this time,” Jordan Cove Energy Project’s (Jordan Cove) application for a Section 401 Water Quality Certification. DEQ’s approval is required for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to issue permits for Jordan Cove’s proposed liquefaction and LNG export terminal at Coos Bay, Ore. and an interconnected pipeline. The denial was made “without prejudice,” which means Jordan Cove may reapply for the certification and submit additional information that could result in a different decision.
