Expert: U.S. LNG Imports to Slow

Platts LNG Daily reports that Steve Johnson, industry expert and president of Waterborne Energy, predicts that LNG imports to the United States are likely to decline next month as gas prices in Europe and Asia rise and U.S. prices fall. Johnson claims the current pattern of demand spiking in the United States and decreasing elsewhere during the summer months is not a new trend, though he notes this year’s spike was even more dramatic than in previous years. He also predicts that July will set a record for most LNG regasified in a single month.
