Excelerate Energy to Compensate for Northeast Gateway’s Potential Impact; Final Environmental Impact Statement Certified
Excelerate Energy has agreed to pay $23.5 million to mitigate and compensate for the potential adverse effects of its Northeast Gateway LNG terminal proposed for offshore Massachusetts after state officials determined that the project may cause more harm than the company initially estimated. The Boston Globe provides further details.
Separately, the Gloucester Daily Times reports that state environmental officials certified the final environmental impact statement for the Northeast Gateway project. Excelerate spokesperson Douglas Pizzi expressed enthusiasm over the certification but noted that the project still awaits Gov. Mitt Romney’s final decision.
