Environmentalists have expressed concerns that a provision in a Massachusetts Senate spending bill would require the state to give Island Alliance Inc. authority over the Boston Harbor Island National Recreation Area, potentially excluding public involvement in matters concerning the area. James McCaffrey, director of the Sierra Club of Massachusetts, said, “There’s already a proposal to put an LNG facility on one of the islands, and now they’re proposing to transfer management responsibilities to the Island Alliance, which is at best a quasi-public agency.” See today’s Boston Herald for the story.
