A number of industry observers noted that the recent acquisition by PetroChina of a large stake in Encana’s British Columbian natural gas reserves could have implications for Kitimat LNG’s efforts to export LNG to customers in the Asian Pacific market. According to the Calgary Sun, Encana CEO Randy Eresman said that although Kitimat LNG did not figure into negotiations between his company and PetroChina, Encana is interested in pursuing LNG exports via the Kitimat project.
