Editorial: Southcentral Alaska Faces Natural Gas Supply Shortage
The Anchorage Daily News published an editorial today concluding that the Southcentral region faces an uncertain energy future. According to the editorial, keeping the Kenai LNG liquefaction plant open after 2009 is difficult to justify, as the export plant sends out gas from a region that already faces a constricted supply picture. The editorial asks the state to provide leadership to ensure that future energy projects, such as the North Slope development, have the market certainty that they need to proceed.
