Crown Landing Critics Attack BP’s Safety Record
Critics of the proposed Crown Landing LNG terminal in New Jersey have questioned project developer BP’s commitment to safety after recent accidents at other BP facilities in the country. “Preventable accidents are happening at BP facilities, and the kind of accidents that could occur with LNG could have significant impact on the [Delaware] [R]iver and the surrounding communities,” said Jane Nogaki, program coordinator for the New Jersey Environmental Federation and an opponent of the Crown Landing proposal. However, BP spokesperson Tom Mueller dismissed criticism against the company’s safety performance, calling BP “one of the safest operators in all of industry.” The Philadelphia Inquirer has the story.
