CPUC Judge Denies Utilities’ Request for Less Restrictive Gas Quality Standards
In a proposed decision, a California Public Utilities Commission administrative law judge is ordering Southern California utilities to comply with existing gas quality standards until further studies demonstrate that less stringent standards will not compromise “current levels of safety, reliability and air quality.” Southern California Gas Co. and San Diego Gas & Electric are among the utilities that urged the CPUC to adopt more flexible gas composition specifications in an effort to facilitate interchangeability between domestic natural gas supply and imported LNG.
