CPUC Considering Wobbe Index Limits
Inside Cal/EPA reports that the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is preparing to reach a decision in a rulemaking proceeding intended to address California’s long-term natural gas needs. Participating in the rulemaking, Southern California Gas Co. and San Diego Gas & Electric are continuing to urge the CPUC to adopt a maximum Wobbe Index Limit of 1400 Btu/scf to accommodate existing supplies, while South Coast air district officials continue to recommend that a more stringent threshold of 1360 Btu/scf should be imposed to prevent increased air pollution. A decision could come in the next several months. [Subscription required]
