Conn. Attorney General Expects Broadwater Energy to Appeal N.Y. State Department of State’s Decision
Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (D) told the Connecticut Post that he expects Broadwater Energy to appeal the decision of the New York State Department of State to deny federal consistency under the state’s Coastal Zone Management Plan. Broadwater has 30 days to file an appeal to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, who would then have 220 days to issue a ruling.
Separately, an editorial in Newsday argues that despite the N.Y. State Department of State’s decision on Broadwater Energy, the region still needs increased natural gas supplies at cheaper prices. The piece suggests that an extension of the Iroquois pipeline or development of an offshore LNG terminal might be appropriate.
