Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. and GAIL (India) Limited., an Indian energy firm, have executed a long-term LNG export sale and purchase agreement. Under the terms of the arrangement, initially Cheniere will sell 0.2 million tons of LNG per year to GAIL from Train 2, and when Train 4 begins operations, Cheniere will sell an estimated 3.5 million tons of LNG per year at the Sabine Pass LNG facility to GAIL for a term of 20 years. This agreement is the first contract to support Phase II of the planned LNG liquefaction facilities at the Sabine Pass terminal. BusinessWeek provides additional coverage.
