Cheniere Announces MOU with Basic Energy for LNG Sales

This morning Cheniere Energy Partners, L.P. announced that its subsidiary Sabine Pass Liquefaction, LLC has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two subsidiaries of Basic Energy, an electricity producer based in the Dominican Republic. Under the terms of the MOU, Basic Energy would purchase up to 0.6 Mtpa of LNG from the Sabine Pass LNG facility. The press release notes that the Dominican Republic has a free trade agreement in place with the United States, so exports to that nation have already been approved by the U.S. Department of Energy.
