Canadian Economist Critical of Tax Agreement for Rabaska LNG Proposal
Louis-Marie Asselin, an economist with Universite Laval, testified before a National Assembly committee yesterday that a tax proposal for the Rabaska LNG project is “insufficient and unacceptable.” Asselin, who has publicly opposed the project, complained that the proposal provides for tax payments that are not adjusted for inflation. However, Rabaska chief executive Glenn Kelly noted that his firm will pay significantly more in municipal taxes than the Canaport LNG project will pay. Read more in the Montreal Gazette.
