Canada to Require Native Consultation for Rabaska Terminal
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency has decided to consult with the Maliseet of Viger First Nation before the agency signs off on the Rabaska LNG proposal, which was recently approved by the Quebec provincial government. The Montreal Gazette reports that the Maliseet of Viger, a Native nation of 570 people, have ancestral claims to the Rabaska site and also a possible claim to the proposed Gros Cacouna site.
