British Columbian Official: Kitimat LNG Project Could Lead to Lower Gas Prices for Local Residents
Robin Austin, Member of the Legislative Assembly for Skeena, B.C., told the Terrace Standard that the Kitimat LNG export project could lower natural gas bills for local residents. According to Austin, without major industrial customers purchasing gas in northwestern British Columbia, natural gas pipeline company PNG has be compelled to pass on gas transportation costs to residential customers. If the Kitimat LNG project is constructed, Austin is hopeful that the transportation costs can be spread beyond local residents.
