Battery Rock LNG Proposal Shelved
The Associated Press (via Boston Herald) reports that AES will no longer pursue its proposed Battery Rock LNG terminal. Citing local opposition and competing proposals, an AES managing director said “it’s a great site and it’s got all the technical attributes that make it correct, but it’s got all the other issues to go with it.” The Battery Rock proposal included two storage tanks buried on Outer Brewster Island, an unoccupied island owned by Massachusetts and part of a National Park. Also, the Boston Globe provides an interview with a leading opponent of the proposal.
