Baltimore Politician Opposes Disposal of Dredged Material from Sparrows Point Shipyard
Today’s Baltimore Sun reports that Baltimore County Executive James T. Smith Jr. has called for a ban on the disposal of dredge spoils at Hart-Miller Island, after Barletta Willis, Inc. received state approval to use the island for disposal of spoils from construction of a boat repair facility at Sparrows Point. Opponents of AES’ Sparrows Point LNG terminal say the shipyard dredging will smooth the way for the LNG project, which would be located on property now owned by Barletta Willis.
