As BC Premier Announces Natural Gas Strategy, Industry Analyst Predicts LNG Export Projects in Western Canada May Merge
Late last week, British Columbia Premier Christy Clark announced her government’s natural gas strategy, including a focus on LNG. According to The Province, the strategy predicts that the three LNG export plants planned for Canada’s west coast could create 9,000 construction jobs and 800 long-term jobs, and generate more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Premier Clark noted, however, that the three LNG projects could strain British Columbia’s existing electrical power resources.
Separately, an analyst with CIBC World Markets suggested that the three LNG export projects proposed for British Columbia’s Pacific coast could consolidate with joint ventures or outright acquisitions. Read more in Reuters.
