Analyst: Liquefaction Construction Costs at $800/metric ton

Speaking at the 6th Annual Platts LNG Conference yesterday, an analyst with Poten & Partners reported that construction of liquefaction facilities now costs $800/metric ton of output capacity, four times the cost seven years ago. He stated that this high cost stemmed from both an increase in materials costs and a shortfall of qualified workers. At the same time, demand in the global LNG market continues to increase. Platts LNG Daily provides further details. [Subscription required]
