Analysis Examines Challenges Facing U.S. LNG Importers

The Wall Street Journal offers an analysis that examines various challenges facing U.S. LNG importers. The piece notes that over the last five years a number of companies, including Cheniere Energy Inc., expanded existing or constructed new LNG terminals in the United States hoping to attract a great deal of LNG on the global market. Despite current U.S. market conditions, including expanded domestic natural gas production, which contributed to decreased U.S. LNG imports in 2008, the analysis notes that the expected increase in global LNG production in 2009 could create opportunity for U.S. LNG importers in light of U.S. storage capacity.
