Algonquin Gas Transmission, a subsidiary of Duke Energy Gas Transmission, has launched an open season to gauge the interest of shippers in a project to transport natural gas from the eastern end of its system to Northeast markets. A press release issued on Friday offers details on the proposed “East to West Expansion” of Algonquin’s existing pipeline infrastructure. “Algonquin’s strategic proximity to proposed new sources of LNG supply at the eastern end of its system offers shippers a ground-floor opportunity to reach growing Northeast markets,” said Bill Yardley, DEGT’s vice president, marketing, business development and customer service. The open season is scheduled to end on Oct. 27.
