Alaskan Utility Files Petition for Review of Kenai LNG Export License Reauthorization
Chugach Electric Association, an Alaskan electric utility, has filed a petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit to review the Department of Energy’s decision to extend the license permitting ConocoPhillips and Marathon to export natural gas from their Kenai LNG liquefaction facility. According to the Anchorage Daily News, Chugach is concerned that the continued export of Cook Inlet natural gas will adversely impact the utility’s ability to ensure that it has adequate natural gas supplies to provide service to its customers at a reasonable price.
