Alaskan Energy Executive Predicts LNG Imports Needed
Colleen Starring, president of Enstar Natural Gas Co., said recently that she expects Alaska to import LNG to compensate for Southern Alaskan utilities’ natural gas supply shortfalls. Starring suggested that gas supply constraints could begin as early as 2012 and that serious supply problems could occur in 2013 or 2014. The Anchorage Daily News provides further information.
Separately, an op-ed carried by the Anchorage Daily News argues that Alaska ought to consider alternative energy sources, including offshore wind, to mitigate the need for LNG imports.
