Reuters reports that Lithuania’s state energy company has postponed plans to import LNG from the United States because the LNG is too “calorific” and does not meet the specifications needed for the country’s gas distribution system, which was designed to use Russian gas. According to the report, Lithuanian company LITGAS has been negotiating for LNG deliveries from Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass terminal in Louisiana, which is due to begin LNG exports soon. Cheniere is testing its liquefaction equipment to ensure that the chemical composition of the LNG it produces will meet Lithuania’s system specifications.
