Obama Administration Releases Quadrennial Energy Review on Energy Infrastructure
Today, the Obama Administration, through the U.S. Department of Energy, has released its first installment of its Quadrennial Energy Review, which “examines how to modernize the Nation’s energy infrastructure to promote economic competitiveness, energy security, and environmental responsibility and take full advantage of American innovation and the new sources of domestic energy supply.” As related to LNG, the report recommends that Congress approve funds to promote renewable energy and LNG projects in Caribbean nations, and notes that a 2014 study commissioned by the Inter-American Development Bank determined that small-scale LNG transport and floating regasification infrastructure could be an economical method of displacing fuel oil and achieving a 30% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 2032 in eight Caribbean nations.
