Senator Wyden Requests FERC and PHMSA LNG Vapor Cloud Dispersion Model Information
Senator Wyden (D-OR) has requested that FERC and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) provide him with information related to the vapor cloud dispersion models used by those agencies for evaluating LNG terminal applications. In his letter, Wyden noted that public comments have raised “serious concerns . . . regarding the adequacy of the hazard modeling used to measure vapor cloud dispersion” in FERC’s review of the Jordan Cove Export Terminal Project application. Wyden stated that it is imperative that FERC and PHMSA use the best information and methods available and that they provide the public with “as much of this information as possible to ensure transparency in the [LNG terminal] permitting and evaluation process.”
