Another LNG Export Bill Introduced
Oil & Gas Journal reports that Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) has introduced S. 2638, a bill that would require the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to make a national interest determination on an LNG export application within 45 days after an LNG export project sponsor has filed an application with FERC. The article states that Hoeven said “the measure is a simple compromise between LNG export proposals Republicans and Democrats have offered because it keeps DOE in the process, but provides certainty by placing a reasonable timeline for it to make a decision.” The text of the bill was not available at press time. The bill is one of several pending bills intended to require quicker action by DOE on LNG export applications.
