Canada Environmental Assessment Agency Opens Public Comments on Aurora LNG Project
The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (“the Agency”) will determine whether a federal environmental assessment is required for the proposed Aurora LNG Project in the Prince Rupert area of British Columbia (B.C.). If the Agency determines an environmental assessment is required, then the Government of British Columbia has requested a substitution of the B.C. environmental process instead of the process provided for in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (“CEAA 2012”). The request for substitution is in accordance with a memorandum of understanding between the Agency and the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office to enable efficient and timely use of the CEAA 2012 substitution provisions. All comments must be submitted by July 28, 2014. The press release opening the period of public participation is available here.
