Vancouver Island First Nations Band Signs Agreement with Steelhead LNG
The Huu-ay-aht First Nations (HFN) and Steelhead LNG Corp. announced an agreement to begin an LNG project at Sarita Bay in British Columbia, Canada. The proposed project includes a liquefaction facility at the southern end of Alberni Inlet on Vancouver Island. Steelhead LNG applied to the National Energy Board on July 8 for a license to export 30 million tonnes of LNG per year for 25 years. The Huu-ay-aht First Nations is a self-governing nation of 750 citizens, based on the southwestern coast of Vancouver Island. Read more in the press release.
