Shell Canada Energy Formalizes Joint Venture for Proposed B.C. LNG Export Terminal
Shell Canada Energy (Shell), PetroChina Corporation, Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), and Mitsubishi Corporation announced today the signing of a joint venture agreement to form LNG Canada Development Inc. for the development of a proposed LNG export project, LNG Canada, to be located in Kitimat, British Columbia (B.C.). The joint venture agreement reflects the new joint venture partners’ respective interests in the project, with Shell now holding 50%, PetroChina 20%, and KOGAS and Mitsubishi Corporation each holding 15%. LNG Canada initially will consist of two LNG processing trains, each with the capacity to produce six million tonnes of LNG annually, with an option to expand the project in the future to four trains.
