Louisiana LNG Files Application to Export to Non-FTA Nations
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently posted on its website Louisiana LNG Energy LLC’s (LLNG) application to export up to two million metric tons per year (MTPA) (approximately 103.4 Bcf) of LNG from a proposed terminal on the Mississippi River, south of New Orleans in Plaquemines Parish, La. The liquefaction facility will consist of four 74,380 Mcf/d liquefaction trains with a capacity of approximately 100 Bcf/year (two MTPA) and will be built in a modular fashion and assembled on-site. LLNG requests authority to export the LNG for a 25-year period to nations without a free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States. The volume requested is non-additive to the 2 MTPA requested in LLNG’s application to export to FTA nations. LLNG states that it expects to commence the FERC pre-filing process around May 2014. LLNG’s application is 25th and currently last on DOE’s Order of Precedence for review.
