The Alaska Journal of Commerce reports that the State of Alaska is seeking to terminate its agreement with TransCanada under the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA), which provides subsidies for TransCanada and partners to construct a natural gas pipeline from the North Slope to a proposed LNG export terminal at a port in south-central Alaska. The article states that termination of the AGIA agreement, elements of which are opposed by some of the North Slope producers, may permit the North Slope producers’ proposed pipeline and LNG terminal project to move forward.
