America’s Energy Advantage Requests Rulemaking to Establish Standards for DOE LNG Export Policy
America’s Energy Advantage (AEA), a trade association representing manufacturers, commodity producers, and publicly owned natural gas local distribution companies, filed comments with the U.S. Department of Energy requesting that DOE initiate a rulemaking or similar process to establish standards for reviewing applications to export LNG to nations without a Free Trade Agreement with the United States. AEA alleges that the legal standards used by DOE in approving recent applications are inadequate, based on outdated LNG import policy, and do not address the complex public interest concerns associated with LNG exports.
