Articles Examine Issues Facing Proposed Canadian LNG Exports
Several recent articles examine issues facing proposed Canadian LNG exports. An article in the Globe and Mail states that the uncertainty regarding a proposed tax on British Columbia LNG exports is keeping some investors from making decisions on whether to invest in B.C. LNG export terminal projects. Two articles in the Calgary Herald cite statements by industry officials predicting that U.S. LNG exports will capture the lucrative Asian market for LNG supplies unless Canada moves forward quickly on proposed LNG export projects. An article in the Financial Post cites statements by Canadian Energy Minister Joe Oliver that timely approval of Canadian LNG projects is a key issue and that the Asian LNG market opportunity will not last forever.
