National Park Service Voices Concerns with Elba Island LNG Export Project

The National Park Service (NPS) filed comments at FERC on Southern LNG Company’s and Elba Liquefaction Company’s proposed Elba Island LNG export terminal project. In comments on the scope of FERC’s environmental assessment of the project, the NPS requested that FERC address concerns that the construction and operation of the project could degrade park scenery, increase light pollution, and increase industrial noise, which could all affect visitor experiences at Fort Pulaski National Monument and Fort James Jackson. Additional potential impacts to Fort Pulaski include water pollution and shoreline erosion. Copies of the comments can be accessed here, and the complete docket for the Elba Island project can be found on eLibrary by searching for Docket No. PF13-3.
