Woodside to Discuss Offshore LNG Project Today
Woodside Energy, an Australian firm, today will reveal details of its plan to site an LNG terminal about 22 miles offshore California. The tankers would regasify LNG onboard and send the fuel via pipeline to consumers. Woodside President Jane Cutler said that the terminal could supply an average of 800 MMcf/d of natural gas, pending federal approval. Susan Jordan, a member of the California Coastal Protection Network, said Woodside’s proposal appears environmentally sound. “If we import, the next technology should be the safest and carry the least environmental footprint,” Jordan said.
