Woodside Natural Gas has filed an application with the U.S. Coast Guard and Maritime Administration to build an LNG terminal offshore California, according to a Dow Jones report. The Ocean Way Secure Energy LNG terminal would allow tankers with onboard regasification technology to unload supply at an offshore point approximately 20 miles from Los Angeles International Airport. Woodside Natural Gas President Jane Cutler said the terminal’s proposed technology and offshore location were influenced by local environmental concerns. Woodside’s press release is here.
