WGL Protests Gas Interchangeability and Seeks a Hearing in Cove Point Expansion Docket at FERC
On Wednesday, November 2, Washington Gas Light filed a supplemental protest and request for an evidentiary hearing in the Cove Point Expansion docket at FERC. WGL alleges that the increased receipts of LNG now, and as a result of the planned Cove Point expansion, will lead to more gas leaks in its pipeline distribution system in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. WGL asks FERC to require that all regasified LNG be “fully interchangeable” with the historical pipeline gas, and argues that the LNG importers be required to bear the costs of any system modifications WGL might have to implement.
