WestPac LNG Hosts Informational Meeting on Texada Island LNG Proposal
The Powell River Peak (Vancouver, Canada) reports that approximately 120 people attended an informational session hosted by WestPac LNG this week on the Texada Island LNG proposal. Mark Butler, president of WestPac LNG, told local residents that WestPac would consider the outcome of a referendum proposed by Texada Island residents but would not be bound by any referendum. Instead, Butler said the company will abide by the regulatory decision of Canada, “a democracy of a lot more people than just on Texada Island.” Local residents plan to hold their own meeting on the terminal proposal on September 16.
