WestPac LNG Alters Design to Use Submerged Vaporizers
WestPac LNG announced yesterday that it will regasify LNG using submerged vaporizers instead of using excess heat from an associated power plant as initially planned. The change came after the company received indications that it would not receive emissions credits for the power plant as a co-generation plant. As a result, the power plant will operate as a peaking facility, generating power only when there is increased demand. Chuck Childress, an opponent of the project and chairman of Texada Action Now, told the Powell River Peak that the design change would render the project not economically viable.
