Weaver’s Cove Protest Turns Chaotic

What was intended to be a ceremonial blessing of the Brightman Street Bridge in opposition to the proposed Weaver’s Cove LNG project turned into a clash between state police and protesters. A state trooper ordered the crowd not to walk across the bridge on account of “traffic and safety issues,” even though the span was closed over the weekend for repairs. The crowd eventually assembled a short distance away. Yesterday’s Herald News has the story.
