U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary F. Locke has sustained New York State’s objection to the Broadwater LNG import project under the Coastal Zone Management Act. New York had argued that the project was inconsistent with the state’s federally approved Coastal Zone Management Plan. Secretary Locke sustained the state’s objection, concluding that the record did not establish that the Project is consistent with the objectives of the CZMA or is necessary for U.S. national security.
