U.S. Diplomatic Cable Discusses Jamaica-Trinidad LNG Deal

The Jamaica Gleaner reports that a communication sent in 2007 from the United States Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica, suggested that Trinidad and Tobago withdrew from negotiations to provide LNG to Jamaica because of Jamaica’s then-ongoing negotiations with Venezuela. According to the cable, the U.S. Embassy believed that the withdrawal was not due to Trinidad supply concerns.
