U.S. Coast Guard Proposes LNG Marine Operations Training Center
The Beaumont Enterprise (Texas) reports that the commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, Admiral Thad Allen, will announce tomorrow plans to establish a Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise. The center will be based at the Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Unit in Port Arthur and will serve as a training facility for USCG personnel to develop and maintain expertise in cryogenic and compressed gas vessel technology and operations. The Enterprise reports that phase one of the center will be operational by July 31.
