Two Senate Energy Committee Members Express Support for Increased Gas Exports
The Hill reports that U.S. Senators Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), both members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, expressed support today for increased exports of U.S. natural gas. Greenwire reports that at the policy breakfast sponsored by The Hill, Landrieu suggested that there may be a role for Congress in clarifying the U.S. policy for exporting natural gas. Relatedly, Murkowski commented on the rumor that Alaska could be the only state to receive authorization to export U.S. natural gas and explained that there has not been discussion of such a plan with Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), the incoming chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
